Chinese Wood Carving Of Zhien Wu – Qing Dynasty

Zhien Wu, the Perfected Warrior, is a Taoist god who, over many centuries, evolved from an ancient symbol of the north (the entwined tortoise and snake) into a superhuman warrior god, and was adopted into the Ming Dynasty as the protector of the imperial household. He is one of the most important deities in the Taoist pantheon.
