Javanese Cirebon Dance Mask – Tari Topeng


Cirebon in West Java is famous for its mask dance that is based on various poems (ie Ramayana) with its central figure prince Panji. The different styles of masks are countless as are the versions of the Panji chronicles. The color of the face and shape of the eyes indicate what type of character is being portrayed. This particular mask depicts the prince with a green face, a carved headdress and the third eye on his forehead
