Chinese Painted Pottery Horse – Han Dynasty


The horse, molded by hand, has its head raised in a straight position and the mouth open. The body has been painted with harnesses, decorative trappings and abstract patterns. Pegged mortises were used to attach the wooden legs to the ceramic body.
