Javanese Cirebon Dance Mask – Tari Topeng

Cirebon in West Java is famous for its mask dance that is based on various poems (ie Ramayana) with its central figure prince Panji. The different styles of masks are countless as are the versions of the Panji chronicles. The color of the face and the shape of the eyes indicate what type of character is being portrayed. This mask depicts prince Panji with a smooth white face, elongated narrow eyes and a straight pointed nose.
