This beautiful wood carving depicts one of the many gods, deities and dignitaries of the Taoist pantheon. The seated figure is dressed in a long robe with wide sleeves leaving only his shoes exposed. His head is slightly tilted forward and the right arm is raised with his hand gesturing a Chinese Shouyin (hand seal). The sweet face and soft smile exude calmness and peacefulness. Mounted on a contemporary stand. (Part of the right index finger is missing)
