Chinese Feline Figure – Tang Dynasty


Miniature clay figurines like this were used from the Han through the Ming Dynasty to be placed in tombs for the afterlife and were often related to the deceased. It was not only the nobility but also a huge middle class that wanted their tombs furnished with elaborate representations of their wealth.
