The cast iron arm is an early example of Buddhist artwork from Kamphaeng Phet in Northern Thailands Sukhothai that was still heavily influenced by Hindu beliefs from Cambodia and India. Sukhothai (Sukhodaya) is considered the cradle of Thai civilization where the Khmer rule was overthrown in the early 1200s, giving the impetus to a new Buddhist civilization that was still influenced by Hindu beliefs from Angkor.
