Chinese Large Hu Vessel – Han Dynasty


The baluster-shaped vase has a classic bronze form, sitting on a low base the body swells and then flares into a narrow elongated neck. Decorated with raised string bands that encircle the globular body. Burial deposits and large areas of silvery iridescence where the original dark green lead glaze has deteriorated over time.

16″ tall 10″ dia, red clay with a dark green lead glaze, China (Han Dynasty), 202 BC – 220 AD
