Anglo Burmese wood carving of a rabbit or hare. The handsome carving depicts the playful animal scampering around foliage and blossoms. The rabbit is an indigenous animal to Burma and is considered wise and compassionate. According to the sasa-jatakas the Buddha was reincarnated as a hare in one of his former lives.
