Burmese Opium Weight – Shan (Pair Priced At)


These zoomorphic weights were originally used in the opium trade and later on became measures for all types of basic necessities. Sitting on a hexagonal base the animal is cast in the form of the Brahmani duck (hamsa) with its tail upturned.
