Pair of cast bronze bookends depicting elephants at a watering hole with lurking alligators. The elephants have their trunks raised to show the perceived threat. Beautifully cast and patinated with finely rendered details of the elephants’ skin. Signed at the base with a three character mark for the renowned Meiji period artist Omori Matsumoto (Kogetsu) Saku. New tusks made of water buffalo horn.
